The NVHSEF was established in 1979 to provide financial assistance to graduating students in North Vancouver high schools. Since its inception it has provided steadily increasing monetary awards to outstanding academic and career training students, as well as bursaries to students in financial need.

NVHSEF is a non-profit organization, officially registered as a society and a charity.
